Mustangs Fall 4-2 Against No. 47 Arkansas

DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU men's tennis team fell 4-2 against No. 47 Arkansas at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Wednesday.

SMU moves to 8-6 on the season and a 6-1 home mark, with Arkansas improving to 11-3.

The Mustangs kicked off the afternoon by scoring the team doubles point to take a 1-0 lead.

Captain duo Adam Neff and Huntley Allen won the first doubles match, taking down Arkansas's No. 45 Jared Horwood and Melvin Manuel (6-2). Trevor Svajda and Louis Cloud followed with a 6-4 win over Jakob Mosvold and Jacob Sweeney on court two to clinch the doubles point.

Svajda returned with another score for SMU in singles play. The freshman defeated Arkansas's Gerard Planelles Ripoll in straight sets (6-1, 6-4) to claim court one and put the Mustangs up 2-1.

The Razorbacks would come back to take the next three singles matches and clinch the win.

SMU travels to Ithaca, New York, for a clash with No. 57 Cornell at the Reis Tennis Center on Sunday at 11 a.m. (CT).
