Women's tennis ranked No. 39 by ITA

Mustangs Ranked No. 39 By ITA

TEMPE, Arizona (SMU/Intercollegiate Tennis Association) — For the second time this season, the SMU women's tennis team is ranked within the top 50 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association polls — the ITA announced on Tuesday.

As a team the Mustangs came in ranked No. 39, with pair Taylor Johnson and Lana Mavor jumping 10 spots in the doubles rankings for No. 27.

The duo won their most recent match on the road at then-No. 21 Texas A&M, beating the then-No. 3 pair in the country, Mary Stoiana and Mia Kupres (6-3) on court one.

Overall, Mavor and Johnson boast a 10-3 record including two wins over nationally ranked pairs.
Junior Drew Morris also re-entered the rankings, making her second appearance in the top 125 this season. Morris, now No. 118, has 10 wins overall including one win over a national ranked opponent.
Her most recent win was against FIU's then-No. 47 Oyinlomo Quadre, 7-6, 7-5.

SMU is currently 5-6 overall, with four wins at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex.

SMU takes on Denver in the Match of the Month on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Mustangs will then transition to take on FIU on Sunday, with first serve set for 11 a.m.
