No. 40 SMU Sweeps Temple 4-0

Tulsa, Okla. (SMU) – The No. 40 SMU men's tennis team swept Temple 4-0 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Sunday.

"We were happy to get a fast start against a good team," said senior captain Adam Neff. "Everyone came in very focused as we continue to finish strong before the conference championships start next week, and we are excited for another opportunity tomorrow against a great Tulsa team."

With the win, SMU improves to 17-8 on the season and is 5-0 against AAC opponents. The Mustangs have now outscored opponents 21-6 in their last five matches.

For the fourth consecutive match, SMU earned the team doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. Trevor Svajda and Louis Cloud picked up their seventh win as a duo, beating Temple's Paul Hannack and Martim Marujo (6-2). Maks Silagy and Julian Steinhausen followed with a 6-3 win over Maj Kolaric and Pranav Nemani to clinch the team point for SMU.

All three of the Mustangs' singles victories were won in straight sets.

Neff went on to win SMU's first singles point, defeating Marujo in dominant fashion (6-1, 6-0) on court two. Svajda then posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Dante Russo on court one to put SMU up to a commanding 3-0 advantage.

Steinhausen clinched the 4-0 match sweep for SMU with his 6-1, 6-3 win against Henrique Petiz on court three. The senior's victory capped off SMU's ninth shutout win of the season.

The Mustangs return to action on Monday for a dual match with Tulsa at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Monday's match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. (CT).
