Mustangs Face Stanford In Third Consecutive NCAA Tournament Appearance

INDIANAPOLIS (NCAA/SMU) – The SMU men's tennis team was selected to eleventh-seeded Oklahoma's region of the NCAA Tournament on Monday night. The Mustangs have now made the NCAA Tournament in three consecutive seasons under Head Coach Grant Chen.

The Mustangs will face Stanford (17-6) at the Headington Family Tennis Center on Friday at 10 a.m. in Norman, Okla. Oklahoma (20-4) and UT Arlington (12-7) will compete to play the winner of SMU and Stanford on the other side of the region's bracket.

This is SMU's 26th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.

The Mustangs went 17-10 during the regular season, which included a 13-2 record at home and a 5-1 mark against American Athletic Conference opponents. SMU earned three wins over ranked teams – vs. No. 27 Memphis (4-0), vs. No. 34 Middle Tennessee (4-1) and at No. 57 Cornell (5-2) - and played a total of 10 teams selected to this year's tournament.

The Mustangs spent nine weeks ranked in the ITA's top-75 team poll, reaching as high as of No. 40.

SMU saw three of its players – Trevor Svajda, Adam Neff and Jerry Barton – ranked in the ITA singles poll throughout the spring, as well as duos of Neff and Huntley Allen and Julian Steinhausen and Allen in the doubles poll.
