As a HP graduate I can only echo the comments made by other alumni. A very knowledgeable classmate of mine who saw the game said, "we just got thwacked in the second half."

All time best game? I'm not so sure. Some used to mention the 1963 Lee - Brackenridge bi-district game won by Lee 55 - 48 although Warren McVea ran wild for Brackenridge.

Absolutely, that game was so good that it is said that the winning team did not even celebrate after the win out of respect for how tough a battle it was with losing team.

Its interesting because SMU has been the favorite landing spot for so many Gobblers. Video include interviews of SMU football alums Henry Sheppard, Arthur Whittington, Larry Whittington, David Hill, Marion Harper-I'm forgetting someone

I think he was a RB & I think his name might have been Rice???

With respect to Rebel 10's comment -

IIRC there was a contemporary report that the two teams met in the middle of the field when the game was over and prayed together.

This year's Mansfield Lakeridge 56 Longview 53 4th round game at AT&T is probably in the top
10 somewhere or will be. Lobos miss a 35 yard field goal with under 30 seconds left for the LR
win.
