DMN: ClubCorp For Sale (Trust me, this pertains to SMU)

No, I'm not personally selling ClubCorp, nor do I have any stake in said company. I did however find this excerpt very interesting.

ClubCorp’s board of directors began discussing a sale 18 months ago and decided last week to pursue alternatives. Part of the push to sell is the family’s interest in furthering its charitable legacy in North Texas, Mr. Dedman said.

If true, this bodes very well for our great University. We are sure to get a considerable portion of their "charitable legacy".

If SMU asked the Dedmans for money, they certainly wouldn't have to sell anything to give it to them. I wonder if Junior wants a building or something?

Like, say, a stake in a basketball practice facility?

Had a conversation with Dedman once at a fundraiser. Yada yada "Why'd you get in real estate?" Something something, "Well, it is the only thing they aren't making more of."

Dedman's big break was when he was personal counsel to Dallas billionare H.L. Hunt. Actually he graduated from UT I believe and went to SMU Law School.
