Man I wish I could but I have family obligations. Petty always delivers in concert. I heard this tour is a good one, too. Do you have the new record? I haven't picked it up yet.

I have heard it - haven't bought it. It's pretty good but doesn't have any of the rock anthem type songs Petty used to deliver in his younger days. I've got Full Moon Fever currently blasting out of the Mac as I type. Getting pumped.................

Not being an arse, but seriously curious what it has to do with SMU?

Bush library?

I would've thought as a hornblower yourself you would appreciate the classics. Guess not.

No, no, I do like Tom Petty. I wasn't complaining about the thread, I seriously was curious if he had a connection!?

It is connected. I'm sure there is an athlete somewhere that like Tom Petty. We can use the fact that Dallas was a concert stop for recruiting purposes.

And since we all know the kids read this board, this is a vital thread for our football future.

The connection is that I went to high school with Tom and I am a SMU fan.

Nice work. The folks in Gainesville claim Petty's classic "American Girl" was inspired by a Florida co-ed.

Having seen the concert - unfreakingbelievable by the way - Petty wore a red t shirt that when it got sweaty, you could see the outline of a Mustang on the chest. Oh, and Stevie Nicks popped in for a couple of songs and gave the pony ears sign during "Stop Dragging My Heart Around."

By the way Mr.Mustang, Petty sang Handle with Care...............

I've said this before, and I am only one person, but why not have a miscellaneous section, or let us post anything in general? At any given time, there is only so many SMU-related topics to discuss?
