If you're a hospitality major and you're wielding an ax, you're probably not very good at your major.

When I read that a student was "gunned down," I imagine a victim walking to class, from a bar, outside his dorm. I don't imagine an ax wielding maniac threatening the police.

I wonder if this will change our new tradition of having a player carry an axe and lead the team onto the field next year at UNT?

That sucks for his friends and family. He had just celebrated his 21st. Think alcohol played a factor?

That or drugs.

Too bad there isn't another option besides Lethal Force.

Well, you don't advance on a cop with an axe or hatchet. Lethal force meets a lethal threat. Arguments can be made for use of less force but not on an axe wielding person.

Very SAD all the way around. Not sure what .. if any issues/history with the kid. Very possible way too much 21st B-day celebration (booze, etc.), most on this board have probably been there once, and did some crazy Sxxx in the process. Then, it ends like this. I am a big supporter of Law Enforcement "God Bless" them. I know the reasons why they are taught "shot to Kill ... not injure", but I wish sometimes they could or would.

Shoot to stop, not shoot to kill. It just happens that the best place to stop someone is shooting center mass. That is what is preached from day one in any academy.

Your are right "Shoot to stop", my error in explaining. The center Mass is the best, and trying to hit someone in the leg/shoulder when they are moving (even if they are not not charging) toward you is a challenge. You don't know the intent of the person, the circumstances (21st B-day, I drank too much), or their state of mind etc. If you miss with a shot to injure, more harm can happen (officers life and/or innocent lives are now at risk), a bad deal all the way around.

No worries! Haha, sorry, we were just hammered into saying shoot to stop, otherwise you would get eviscerated on the stand if you said you shot to kill someone.

I've been pretty hammered in my day, but I've never thought it might be fun to assault a cop, or anyone else carrying a gun.
