i think people using the N word or in any way discriminating against someone due to their skin color is reprehensible, and very strong evidence of low intelligence. That is a problem with the bigot, not the recipient of the bi-product of the bigot.

I don't think friend chicken in any way shape or form is in that category, but that is my opinion. I find it delicious. I think people who get offended by fried chicken are looking for something to be unhappy about. You don't have to agree with me, nor does anyone else. My black friends would be cool enough to put it right back in the face of anyone who tried to degrade them for liking what almost everyone likes. Are you the sort of person that is uptight about everything?

When people feign outrage over nothing, it diminishes their otherwise good points, and also diminishes the very real racism that exists out there.

Any word that is ugly is ugly out of everyone's mouth - you can't have it 3 ways

Agree, but chicken is not ugly. Its tasty.

I think everyone on this board has good intentions, so i am fine if others disagree. Hopefully even if you disagree, you will assume a level of good faith in the person you are communicating with in regards to racial questions. Its hard to make progress on anything otherwise.

Have a Merry Christmas all!

I love fried chicken and I love watermelon and there is no shame in saying so. However, let's not be naive to believe that in the wrong context it is not a racial loaded powder keg. I don't like it but it is true. Owning a confederate flag for sake of history is fine. Waving one outside of NAACP headquarters is probably not an endearing choice. It is all a matter of context.

I wish none of this existed. I pride myself on living my life as colorblind, but everyone has built in prejudices whether we admit it or not. Some PC is warranted until evolution leaves us all with skin of the same color.

And therein lies my thesis of the future.
We will all eventually be intertwined and become the same flavor - and if I don't like you it's just because your an [deleted] hole

We can be different but hopefully more self aware and less offensive. I expect SMU grads to be a more refined bunch.
