Saw on Wikipedia that the TCU endowment is reportedly is $1.749B and ours is $1.505B.

WTF? Their endowment is that much larger than ours?!

This shows our endowment and theirs at roughly the same level (ours is slightly higher): http://www.nacubo.org/Documents/Endowme ... evised.pdf

Numbers are end of FY2014.

This appears to be Wikipedia's source for TCU (look at the "Total Investments" row) http://www.ir.tcu.edu/zfiles/Fall2015.pdf

Not sure what the snapshot in time here is or if TCU has any investments external to their endowment...I question this number relative to what was reported at end of FY2014.

The SMU 1.505 mil number comes from the financial report published May 31, 2015.

While I wouldn't go quite that far, there's no question that one thing that our previous campaign was short on was gifts to the endowment. We focused on capital projects instead.

Is it true that if we took our $1.5 billion and divided it among all US citizens we would all get around $4,000,000 each?

When I suggested another campaign I didn't want to sound sarcastic. I truly meant it. For SMU to get to the next level we need to build our endowment and scholarship dollars.

Couldn't agree more. Endowment needs to be north of $2B.
