It certainly speaks to an institution's reputation when Deans depart to become University Presidents, and Professors depart to become Deans. Not sure what it says though, losing 5 deans in 5 years, granted they are all promotions.

I thought about it, but I think yes. I was attempting to highlight that a Deanship at SMU is a stepping stone to a University Presidency.
