I know others have posted on this but I think it deserves its own. Goffs is gone up in flames. So sad. So many memories

Can't tell you how good their burgers were, because in the Fall of 1970 I was on SMU"s swimming team. While Coach Barr and Mac didn't think my hair was too long Harvey did, and wouldn't serve me. We spread the word about his sign in the window and our treatment, and as a result, not many SMUers went there.

They were decent. At least when I was there about this time last year, with the new owners as Harvey sold out years ago but opened up his own.

After this recent fire, the local TV news did an interview with him and it seems he is still the same way you remembered him.

I didn't realize until later that his name was Harvey Goff, as we always called him Jack Goff.

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign?

Harvey's is nothing special. Flame broiled but pricey ($5) and in a strip mall. Burger House is much more of an institution.

There are so many good burgers in Dallas, it amazes me people wasted their money on this burnt mess.

I like the burgers, mainly because I only grill over charcoal as well. I think it does a ton for the flavor. And the dogs were awesome. Frank cheesie every trip.

Goff's was so overrated. Don't know how it had its fans, considering Dallas' burger game has gotten way better in the past decade.
