Historically, Dartmouth's athletic teams were the Indians. Now it is Big Green.

Like.

If it hadn't been raining, I probably would have taken my daughter to the game.

Although I understand (and agree) with the idea that one wouldn't publish a program like that now, it amazing to me that our best colleges don't understand that history is not always perfect.

The time is coming that things we are doing today, that are considered the norm, will be seen as offensive. Happens with every generation. Why apologize for the past? Make changes and move forward, that would show that it is no longer tolerated.

In the '70s Dartmouth sent some things to a cousin of mine including a green sweatshirt. The white script said Dartmouth on top with a logo in the center and Indians underneath the logo.
Those things are somewhere in one of our huge storage buildings. My cousin did not go to Dartmouth. Stanford was the same way. We have some things in storage that say Stanford Indians.

It was always racists to us (even to the persons I knew who were born before 1900 that were old people when I was a kid) because we see ourselves as humans and not animals (mascots).

And I'm not very PC but this is different than being PC to me.

Out of curiosity, do you hold the same view (human not animal) for other mascots such as the cowboys, Trojans, Spartans, rebels, etc.?

Uconn had a mascot upgrade about 5 years ago and a coed wrote a piece how she felt it was rapey looking. Wonder how she would feel about the Billikens
