non-SMU topic: Ball or Fultz?

For the first time in a couple of decades my Mavs will have a top 5 pick in next year's loaded draft and I've convinced myself we need to take either Ball or Fultz. I've watched as many clips on both as I can and I think both will be great NBA PGs. I'm just curious what other bball junkies opinions are of the two. BTW, Dennis Smith (NC St) might be just as talented but he's had injury issues.

Cuban/donnie will trade it away and get a couple of Pavel podkolzin types and a 2nd round in 2034 in return.

That is my biggest fear. Donnie's history with the draft is absolutely terrible.

Lonzo Ball is carrying UCLA, I'd have to go with him.

Mostly true but he wanted the Greek freak and Cuban didn't. How is that playing out-not good at all.

Mavs drafting arguably worse than the Cowboys.

Arguably?? There is not argument. They are definitely worse in the draft. Its not even close.

Leaning towards Ball but I hate the form on his jumper. He is electric though. Looking forward to see him tomorrow against Ohio St.

Do you value production or ceiling? Bettered player now or better athlete in future?

Definitely higher ceiling/athlete in the future. I think Ball is the guy.

If you think higher ceiling/athlete, it's Fultz. Lonzo is better now. Either way, it's a Jason Kidd vs Westbrook argument potentially. Can't really go wrong, just different

I've been a bigger fan of Fultz until recently. My biggest concern with him is how bad Washington is playing with Fultz running the team. I haven't watched UW enough to know if the talent around him is that bad, but I know UW has had really good teams the past few years until now.

Ball has the "it" gene. He makes everyone around him better - as you said just like J Kidd. After watching Ball the last few games he's more athletic than I first thought and he doesn't make a lot of mistake a for a player with flair.

We all know you need mega stars to win in the NBA and the Mavs have none. FA doesn't work for the Mavs so it has to be through the draft. Can't miss on this one. But my luck, Donnie probably has his eye on a 7 footer from Uzbekistan.

BTW, what are your thoughts on Smith? I've seen one reputable mock draft with him going #1. I know he has the knee injuries but I hear he is just as talented as Ball and Fultz.

My talent evaluator says go with London, "funky release and all."

His release is very ugly, but even with that, he shoots better than Kidd at this point.
