The Mustangs’ success on the field looks to be spilling over to the SMU endowment.

An invitation is making the rounds to attend a gig on October 18 whereat there will be an announcement of “a commitment to SMU and the Edwin L. Cox School of Business” that is “unprecedented in the history of the university.”

OK, I’m not supposed to say anything.

But on the 18th, Robert H. Dedman Jr., R. Gerald Turner, and Matthew B. Myers will announce at the Hillcrest Foundation Commons that I, Tim Rogers, have made an unprecedented commitment to attend the Temple game the next day and, further, that I will not leave before halftime.

Either that or Craig James is returning for a fifth year of eligibility.

Supposedly largest ever - which I think makes it at least 25M? Didn't Dedman Sr give us 20M?

It makes it at least $46 million.

The largest is a $45 million donation from the Meadows Foundation in March 2015

It's surprising that with a decent amount of billionaires as alum and billionaire families that this is the largest gift. I would have expected $100mm+.

come on billionaires, get on board!

Agreed, Johns Hopkins just recurved $1.8 billion from Bloomberg.

Other bullions have given upwards of $500m to other universities

Mr. Cox wants to give his gift before he goes to his much deserved reward.

This will probably mark the official beginning of the "quiet phase" of our next capital campaign with an official public phase kicking off two years from now in 2021.

The Second Century campaign's "quiet phase" started in September 2006, and the public phase in September 2008; the previous campaign; "A time to lead" had ended in 2002.

The second century campaign ended in 2015.

SMU sent around a survey asking about what they would like to see be the logo for the next funding campaign and what we saw as identified with SMU the most about a month back.

Re: the Richards Group. They are first class and have made numerous marketing suggestions to our athletic program regarding ticket sales, etc. But there is a huge gulf between recommendations and execution.
