Why was my post regarding SMU and Religion deleted?

Hopefully, I have just overlooked it and the thread wasn't actually deleted but it no longer appears to be showing here nor is it listed in my history of posts. This is very disturbing.

I understand some people want SMU to be a secular institution but that doesn't change its history as a Christian university nor that it still has loose ties to the Methodist Church. It seems rather heavy handed to stifle discussions on these topics that are directly relevant to SMU. Nor was any explanation given. The thread appears to have been summarily deleted like someone from one of those old Soviet photos who was inexplicably deemed a threat to Stalin. Is this a common occurrence on PonyFans?

That sums it up. When I attended SMU in the late 80s, faith played a big part in the undergrad experience, but it was all faiths, and a deep dive study of every faith was encouraged. We were not told what to think.

The link above gives SMU's official position, which desribes the SMU environment perfectly. If you want to attend (or have your relatives attend) a University that promotes and adheres to your particular faith, there are plenty of options out there.

What if Cognitive dissonance has played a major role in our spiritual behavior, and in fact we are just an Alien experiment?

No one said it was simple, which is why we're each called to come and see, seek and find. But someday we're all going to wake up and realize, in the words of Han Solo, "It's true. All of it." Unthinkable in this day and age where we've been fed the lie that each of us are free to determine what is true for us.
