US News and World Report has ranked the Texas A&M School of Law No. 60 of the 192 law schools it ranked on the 2021 Best Law Schools list. That’s up from No. 83 in last year’s ratings.

Robert B. Ahdieh, Dean & Anthony G. Buzbee Endowed Dean's Chair at the Texas A&M University School of Law said the jump was the fourth biggest in the nation.

“Equally important, that jump will – far sooner than I think anyone would have predicted – put us into the same range as Baylor, SMU, and the University of Houston, producing a significant shake-up in the longstanding status quo,” Ahdieh said.

The Fort Worth school was tied in the rankings with the Pennsylvania State University law school in University Park, Pennsylvania.

Among other Texas schools, the University of Texas in Austin was ranked No. 16; Baylor University was ranked No. 50 in a tie with two other law schools; The Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and the University of Houston School of Law were tied at No. 56 with one other school; and the Texas Tech University law school in Lubbock was tied with six other schools at No. 111.

The school – formerly the Texas Wesleyan School of Law before it was sold to the Texas A&M system – was first ranked in 2016 at No. 149. It was at No. 111 in 2017; No. 92 in 2018; No. 80 in 2019; and No. 83 in 2020.

With all the advantages, Dedman Law is like our basketball program. They need a new dean.

Another personnel failure by Turner.

Do the Aggies have coloring books in their law library, or have they gone digital?

In short order, A&M, and its Metroplex location, smoked Texas Tech (location) and South Texas (cost). Where will it settle and what are they doing that SMU, Baylor and UH should take note of? I assume the University heavily subsidized the first few classes to improve entrance scores. Otherwise, those first students were betting on potential. This is almost like UTD undergrad rise except they started with high stat science, engineering and business students.

All my joking aside, when I started at William & Mary law school, it was close to having its ABA Accreditation taken away. Now its #31. My class had multiple judges including a federal judge, and many successful attorneys around the country. We had a bit of chip on our shoulders toward UVA law and still for many of us, a victory in a trial against a UVA lawyer is sweeter. So, a quick turnaround is not hard with an inspired group of alumni and we all know Aggies are pretty inspired.

I wonder if TCU regrets not buying Texas Wesleyan Law School now.

Also, wtf is SMU doing? Arizona State is in the 30s, no reason we should be where we are.

Turner should have stepped down long time ago. We should be a top 30 law school and business school, especially given our history and location.

Yes, but, look at all the gazebos and water features we now have because of RGT. Gotta define priorities.
