I thought East Carolina won the national championship. Are there divisions? What did ECU win and what did SMU win?

East Carolina won Intermediate Large Co-ed. So at the intermediate level technically they are "College Champions" rather than "National Champions." They also divide up cheer divisions by the football division the school plays in, the size of the team, and whether there are men. Plus there are dance team divisions for jazz, pom, etc. We competed in "Game Day" which combines cheer and dance, plus whatever other spirit you want, so we had Peruna (the person, not the pony) and a few band members. Some teams put their baton twirler in there. The routine has to include crowd chants, props, fight song, pyramids, etc. Super fun category.

There was no competition last year, but in 2019 we blew a big lead going into finals on a prop fail of all things and lost to Michigan by 0.09 which was heart breaking. We definitely had something to prove this year! My daughter came to practice last week to fine tune the dancers and said they looked great, so I was hopeful!

I sill haven't seen the routine, but I will post it if I can find it.
