Dallas Skyline 1950

That would be late 1950s. Several of the taller buildings in the photo were not there in 1950. There is a 1949 photo of Dallas skyline that would be closer to what 1950 looked like.

My uncle worked on the First National Bank building pictured. Began construction in 1961 and opened in 1965. It is the one that recently reopened after a makeover. (49th floor restaurant has window view tables for 120.00 per person for dinner)

Dad worked in that building from the time it opened until about 1980 or so. I watched many a local Cowboys game from his office because we could get a signal from Oklahoma, I believe. I loved that building.

At a time around that period my father was invited to join up with a rising businessman and his ventures. Being very conservative, my father declined and stayed the course on his career. That rising businessman was Clint Murchison.

Is there any more to that story?

Clint’s dad was one of the most influential oilmen at the time. Seems like it would have been a safe bet to latch on to Jr.

I would have to channel a medium to get any more of the story.
