First round home game against a directional Arkansas school and then off to Georgetown.

I know very little about NCAA soccer, but was thinking of going to the game on Thursday evening.

Notice that SMU was #10 in last coaches poll and they just won their conference tournament.

How do 16 teams get a first round bye in the NCAA tournament, but the #10 team (SMU) has a play-in game?

Is this just like the NCAA Basketball tournament where the NCAA just screws with SMU whenever they can get a chance to do so?

Also notice that we are ranked AHEAD of Georgetown in the coaches poll - why do we play at their house/pitch?

Appreciate any commentary on this matter so that I can be informed and complain about the right things when I am at Thursday's game :-)

^^^ok - just saw this being complained about in the other thread. But I will leave my post here so that my complaint is officially lodged with the NCAA.

I suppose UNC Soccer (who also have a bye along with Georgetown) can recruit players that only speak Portuguese and allow them to turn in one page papers written in Portuguese to get all of their A+s for eligibility.

SMU was definitely hard done by the NCAA seeding.

Shockingly, we got hosed by the NCAA. Doesn't matter what sport...

Great to see this team trending in the direction this program's rich history deserves. Way to go boys, and way to go Coach Hudson. Stellar job revitalizing the program...I am sure this is just the beginning of a bright future and continued success including winning an NCAA championship.

Great crowd last night. A lot of soccer enthusiasts. The band came and blared out Peruna after halftime from the corner by the Commons. A friend with me commented that the Mustang players really had a good time and that's what college is about. Good advertising. Beat the Hoyas!
