Munjoma’s First Career Goals Propel No. 8 SMU Ahead of Campbell 4-0

DALLAS (SMU) – SMU junior defender Eddie Munjoma netted the first two goals of his career to help the No. 8 Mustangs defeat Campbell 4-0 Sunday night. The McKinney, Texas product was one of three Ponies to find the back of the net at Westcott field and move SMU to 1-1-0 on the season.

Munjoma’s first goal, coming during the 14th minute, got the scoring started for the Mustangs as he cleaned up on a rebound created by Talen Maples and DJ Williams Jr.

Maples would follow with a goal of his own, a header that was setup from an Emil Cuello corner kick, in the 18th minute and Garrett McLaughlin would notch his first goal of the 2018 season when he controlled a free kick, also a Cuello helper, before putting it past the Camels’ goalkeeper.

SMU would lead 3-0 at the half and Munjoma’s second goal, a header fashioned on a Nicky Hernandez loft, would be the final tally of the night on the Hilltop.

Junior keeper Grant Makela had a stellar night in goal, including thwarting a Campbell penalty kick early in the second half, to complete his first career shutout.

The Ponies will be back in action on Westcott Friday, Au
