I have no idea what he might be thinking, but pretty obvious he's not having enough fun here to finish his eligibility at SMU. Assuming next year is the last football he will ever play, I hope he finds some place he really enjoys and that he gets to start.

Be nice to have a “big-time” qb coming in. Maybe Jason Street, Matt Saracen or maybe even Vince Howard?

Bottom line: he sees that he will not beat out Will Brown. He’s not the QB to get us to 8 wins and even if he did, he would be gone the next year. It is time for a change.

That said, it could be that Ben sees the writing on the wall with Jalen Brown. I know that he is a strong leader and the other players rally behind him.

Jalen Brown???

Look for an incoming grad transfer after the bowl to fight it out with Brown & Green for reps.

I think that he saw the writing on the wall. There was no way Dykes was going to go into next season without bringing in a GT QB.

Hopefully, he gets to play next year behind a stellar OL. The tough bastards took a [deleted] ton of hits over the past three years.

I think it changes our recruiting targets a little. With Hicks in house, we would more likely target a JUCO transfer. Without hicks, I think GT is much more of a factor.

As do I. He did finish his SMU degree so he definitely is one of us. I just really hope he does not end up at Arky where he will either be maimed by big DTs or never see the field.

Good luck to Ben. Enjoyed last year less the Frisco bowl.. Navy game win was definitely a highlight this year for him. I never thought even in Navy's down year we would ever break that curse.

Obviously the starting role is up for grabs given the collapse at the end of the season. Good luck to him and I really hope we get a Garrett Gilbert like QB.

A friend of the family mentioned Georgia Tech as a possible landing spot

They have run the triple option with Paul Johnson as coach for about 8 years. Johnson is retiring so they will be building a new offense with Geoff Collins but I would think Hicks could find a more stable environment than a new offense being built. But then again I doubt they have a pro style QB on hand.

Which ones? Almost all of them are commenting on how been Hicks has lit up Houston every time he ever played them,Which is objectively true. Even last year in the loss, he still passed for close to 400 yards.
