New direction for SMU swimming.

Interesting timing considering we just built the new Natatorium for them.

Hart didn’t extend JJ.
Hart moved Sinnott along via retirement. I’m sure he will go find a top flight coach to recruit to our facilities- as we’ve done in Tennis and golf.

Hopefully we can field top 10 teams in each sport - tennis, golf, and swimming on the strength of our facilities, education, and location.

I'm not sure what the "survivor" game means.
SMU needs coaches that can thrive in 2019 and beyond by recruiting and training high level athletes.
I look forward to seeing what is next for SMU men's swimming. Hopefully we can get back to the type of teams that were at SMU in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. The SMU administration put us in the "hole" of irrelevance with their non-interest in building an up to date swimming facility until the NAT just fell apart - shame on them. An incredible blunder by the Turner led administration.
Hopefully we can hire a coach who will start us back on the path to being a consistent top 10 program again.

It means our head coach attrition rate in the past ~6years is 75%.

I am not sure a high attrition rate for coaches is a bad thing if those coaches are not performing to the standard that has been set for them.

I fear there no longer is a standard.

Why is it a good day? How can you know if a coaching change is a good thing before knowing who the next one will be?

Eddie Sinnott won a hell of a lot for SMU. Thanks, Coach!

Y’all think Eddie forgot how to coach? This isn’t 90s early 2000s SMU anymore.

I think it is a sad day in that Eddie has done so much good at SMU. He has been a class act and a very good coach. The world of college swimming has changed greatly in the last 30 years and it makes it much harder for a very expensive private school to compete at a very high level. The lack of a good facility for years has made this even more of a challenge. Then put on top of that the relatively small amount of academic scholarship money that SMU gives out - that is a huge issue in swimming.
It is also a time to look forward to a new coach who will love being at SMU. I hope we are able to get a very good coach here.
