Norman (Oklahoma) HS offensive lineman Ben Sparks (6-4 / 285) announced via his Twitter account that he has committed to SMU over offers from Air Force, Arkansas State, Army, Dartmouth, Eastern Michigan, Memphis, Navy, New Mexico State, North Texas, Northern Iowa, Ohio, Princeton, Rice, Texas State, Troy, Tulsa, Wyoming and Yale. "Thankful and excited beyond measure to announce my commitment to Southern Methodist University! Thank you to everyone who has recruited me and helped me in this process! #PonyUpDallas" He also placed fourth in the state of Oklahoma in the discus with a PR throw of 150-5. Our highest rated recruit so far (presumably because of the number of offers he has?) but still no P5 offers. It will be interesting to see which one of this year's OL recruits will blossom and turn into one of those guys the P5 schools will say they "missed" on. All of these OL recruits this week have size and have attracted plenty of attention from D-I FBS programs and will hopefully have RS seasons to continue their development. I like the way Sonny & Co are building the program and I would guess that BUS agrees.

If you build a good offensive line, that only makes it easier to recruit good running backs and quarterbacks. The pony express had the best OL in the country.
Just send 'da money.

I would bet they had the second best also. They were pretty interchangeable.

Pretty strong 2-deep back in the day. They rotated quite a bit as I recall.

Very good point. Let's get Stone and a stud RB in next class.

Wow, Go to the beach for a week and look what happens! Dang, Big Men and you know I like that. Win the line and yes, running backs and QB's get better Go Dykes.

Yeah we were certainly providing them a decent celery in those days.

I'm channeling my inner BUS here, loving the emphasis on linemen.
