SMU Great Retires From The NFL

Postby DanFreibergerForHeisman » Mon Jun 17, 2019 7:05 pm

Josh McCown called it a career today...

I guess it just goes to show that you don’t always get to choose your own path. But looking back, I’m proud of how my career has gone. I don’t shy away from the journeyman label. I embrace it, full force.

Because it’s been one heck of a journey.

And now, strange as it feels to say, after 17 years … that journey is coming to an end.

Today I’m officially retiring.

Good for him. Nice career.

What did his brother end up doing? He was a fairly highly rated recruit as well, IIRC.

laughed at this line on his wiki page.

"He then transferred his senior year to play for the Sam Houston State Bearkats of Sam Houston State University. McCown transferred to be in an offense that threw more and to have a better chance to win."

Didn't Sam Houston win a national championship with Josh? If not, they went very deep his Senior year.

Nice college player who pieced together a solid pro career, and a hell of a guy.
Congratulations, Josh. Good luck in your next chapter.
