Bring back Mustang Mania

Postby ponyboy » Wed Oct 09, 2019 6:25 am

If this season ends well, it would be so cool to see a retro Mustang Mania marketing campaign for next season. Tie it in with the Pony Up Desoto, etc. billboards, Dallas’ team stuff, which has been freaking brilliant.

BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

By the way, just noticed that Moody has a new big “Welcome to Dallas, TX” banner. That’s what it’s all about. Somebody is getting it.

Lil Ricky Hart and staff, better be working 24/7, on getting a good crowd for Temple. Weather looks shaky, won't have Family weekend to help and Temple won't bring many. Just can't depend on the players, tweeting #fill the ford, to do his job.

Yeah I agree and counting on a 6-0 record, while great, you have to add on to it. I just wish him and company would just go on a roadshow for ticket sales. Why not? Avoid online processing fees and hand out some SMU gear with a purchase.

The $21 ticket in sections 223 & 224 promotion, is not going to make a dent. Here is a link to seats available, and if you are familiar with Ticketmaster...there are even more tickets available than these.

Mustang Mania II is a great idea

How about coaches & former Mustang footballers each lunch at Dallas area elementary and middle schools (high school kids don't care). Preside over the recess 2 touch football games and maybe identify a few prospects... and of course Hart provides gear (and home schedules!) for the kids to take home.

How many unaffiliated parents will take a flyer on SMU/Temple if their kid actually wants to go to a game because she heard Peruna is a real mustang and SMU is Dallas' team (like the Cowboys/Mavs/Stars/Rangers)?

Make it an athletic & academic outreach endeavor to encourage kids to aspire to SMU. Probably could get funding from academic P&Ls too.

Send me a box of bumper stickers and I’ll cover Europe. I was in diapers back then, but I remember reading about a Mustang Mania sticker on the Berlin Wall...so cool!

I remember all of the bumper stickers vividly.

I won't admit to going to Fort Worth and putting SMU bumper stickers over Unbelieeeeeevable bumper stickers though...

So what is the 2019 equivalent of bumper stickers? Seems like something we should get on right away!!!
