IN the other thread when I counted the tough games left on the schedule, there is a reason why UConn and Temple made that list as tough games.

As Lunardi said yesterday during the broadcast, the top of the AAC isn't spectacular, but the middle of the league is as good as any conference's middle. Temple's record in the league speaks more to the depth of the league than to Temple's quality as a team.

That depth of the league is why I always thought it was a 2 bid league. 3 at most. Houston and Cincy are going to finish 1-2 and Wichita has a really tough schedule, I thin they finish 4-5-6, significantly behind.

By the end of the season, as stated in a different post, Memphis will no longer count as a Tier 1 win. So SMU will be 0-2 against Tier 1. SMU will have to win out in order to build enough of a Tier 2 record to be close to the bubble.

IMHO, SMU will have to finish third in the league, ahead of Tulsa and with clear distance ahead of Memphis or Wichita in order to make the NIT. If both Wichita and Memphis are close to the third place team in record, they are going to eat two NIT bids, and SMU would be on the NIT bubble hoping for a bid.

win out - SMU is on the NCAA bubble.
Outside of that, finish in third and hope for Tulsa and Memphis to tank and get an NIT bid.

Memphis has just not been the same team post Wiseman, but I think our guys are going to need to sweep them and win at least 2 of the 4 games against UConn, Houston, Tulsa and WSU to be NIT worthy. Needless to say, a road loss at Tulane, UCF or USF could also seal this team's fate.

This UConn vs Cincinnati game is every bit as exciting as the SMU/Temple game was yesterday. Who will survive? Cincy up 69-68 in OT

Big win for Connecticut. Bigger loss for Cincinnati though.

Great (controversial) finish to the Uconn vs Cincy game. Cumberland got the defender off his feet but definitely jumped into him. Could have easily been called a fould. Tough no call as UConn hangs on to win for the 1st time in last 10 games vs Cincinnati. Don't sleep on these Huskies. They haven't ever beaten us in Moody but they are on a hot streak

Now we just need Wichita State to beat Houston and UCF to beat Tulsa and it's anyone's conference (and probably a 1 or maybe 2 bid league, despite what all these CBS/ESPN announcers are saying.)

UCF doing it's part but Houston is tough to beat on their home court and appears they will take a one game lead in conference standings after this weekend's play. SMU facing 2 "must win" games at Moody this week if our guys want to compete for one of the top 4 spots and 1st round bye in AAC Tourney

this conference is unreal-Memphis loses by 40 to Tulsa, UCONN beats Tulsa by 15, UCF beats Tulsa by 8, UH doubles up Wichita St by 35 right now SMU leads first half against Temple by 19, Temple outscores SMU by 24 in second half. 3 win teams beating the better teams in the conference. Not sure if I've seen anything like this. UH is easily the best team but SMU should be tied for first if the team hadn't fumbled away the road games at Temple and ECU.

Really didn’t expect Houston to blow the Shockers out, and its a whole lot of deja vu watching Houston at home except for the smaller crowd.

Looks like the idea of adding Wichita State to boost our conference basketball profile nationally worked for about one year.

They are struggling in AAC play but don't forget they beat South Carolina, Ole Miss, Okie State, Oklahoma and VCU. Their only non-conference loss was to a pretty stout West Virginia team. They remain a good addition to this conference as far as giving us any national respect

ECU down 10 at Tulsa and Temple down 10 at Tulane midway through the 2nd half in each of those games

South Carolina wins by 15 at Georgia as UGA and Vandy are the bottom two teams in the SEC standings with 2 and 1 conference wins, respectively

Tulane blows 13 point lead with 12 minutes left to lose to Temple. Temple with 2 straight improbable comebacks
