Helmet Toss At TCU

Postby crazy horse » Sun Jul 26, 2020 10:45 am

During the game when the TCU player tossed the SMU helmet 50 yards downfield, did anything come of that incident? League penalty, referee or player rebuke? Hard to imagine that nobody was punished for that.

TCU was punished by a loss at the hands of SMU.

Patterson whined that SMU player should have been removed for next play because of having his helmet off on the field of play - vowed to never let that ref work another game in amon carter again...

Just watched the replay and the announcers all claimed that not a single ref saw the incident. The play was an INT by TCU in the end zone. They had a huge play that set up a score just after the change of possession.

I am just amazed something like that goes unnoticed and there are no consequences.

Glad we won, and that it was in Ft Worth.

It was an unforgivable non-call.

Yeah we were hanging with them for sure.

Well, we more than hung with them. We beat them. But it really was inexcusable as the TCU defensive player grabbed our guy by the facemask and ripped it from his head. If nothing else, and there was plenty of "else," it was an egregious facemask penalty that alone should have resulted in the TCU player being tossed from the game.

Wasn't it Nick Dennis who had his helmet thrown?

I really worried he was going to get ejected, because he was understandably furious when it happened. As memory serves, Sonny Dykes kind of lost his mind at the time, too ... understandably.

Gary isn't going to help us with our helmets anymore...

We need to tear them a brand new backside this year.

Odds are we will not play them this year. The Big 12 (-2) will cancel all non conference games due to Covid.

The silver lining is we get to keep the skillet another year.
