Re: 4* DENot sure where you saw 4-stars, but I'm super excited to land a 6-7 stud DE with a motor. This is a huge area of need, so really excited to see the need addressed in an equally huge way.

Re: 4* DEPlenty of potential but no 4 star, that's for sure
Re: 4* DEWeird there can be that big of a discrepancy between ESPN (4*) and 247 (0*). Is it that 247 is working in limited capacity?

Re: 4* DENeed a recruitnik to weigh in on why he's not even rated on 247 site, but having just two offers from P5 programs suggests he's not as strong a prospect as others who carry 4 star ratings on that site. Regardless of any ratings debate, he looks like a guy who could have an impact for a program like SMU's and obviously our coaches believe that to be the case. I will trust in Coach Joyner's judgment.
Re: 4* DEStars mean little IMO. But turning down offers from Arizona state, Colorado aaaaaand Cougar High means quite a bit.

Re: 4* DE
I recall Stallion writing more than a decade ago that one should focus on the offers, not the stars. Didn't always agree with him, but he was spot-on with that advice. (It's still nice to have a 4 star commitment.)
Re: 4* DEExcuse my ignorance, but what is “the Miami model?”
Re: 4* DE
Yes, he showed that even with a minimum effort you can win games at SMU. At our lowest point, members of the media questioned whether it was even possible for a coach to win games (not a winning season) at SMU.
Re: 4* DE
- Making changes to the school infrastructure and admission policies to recruit better athletes - Branding your team as "Miami's" team (or in our case Dallas). Private school performance is always going to go up and down, but the brand of the school is what persists in the down times. The financial commitment made to June forced a lot of changes to the SMU model, as did LB, and as did CM. They have all had a positive impact on what is available to help SD be successful, and hopefully will remain for future coaches.
