Or hire another perpetually 7-5 coach.

They see Jimbo and A&M on the move.....and the Whorns can't have another school in Texas stealing headlines....so they will try to hire a big name and it wouldnt be a surprise if A&M keeps improving that the Aggies will see a NCAA investigation code-named "Protect the Whorns".

Anyone other the Urban Meyer is a failure on Del Conte. As it is, waiting this long to announce the inevitable destroyed what was a good recruiting class and cost a lot of players to the transfer portal. Sark has failed as a HC. Just because you are a good coordinator doesn't mean you'll be a good HC (just ask Morris or Bennett)!

Ideally you don't make a move unless you know you will improve your stock. Places like Texas should be in that type of scenario, but I'm not sure Sark is an upgrade.

Sark has battled his own set of demons, not including failed HC opportunities.

Fickell would be an obvious hire, rather than gambling on sobriety and past "success".

Yeah Sark has had as many hangovers as the Coog High Coach

Per Wiki about Sarkisian

ESPN later reported that Sarkisian came to a pre-practice meeting, only to have his assistants tell him to go home when he appeared to be intoxicated. Scott Wolf, the USC beat writer for the Los Angeles Daily News, reported on Twitter that several players smelled alcohol on Sarkisian's breath.

Appeared simply to have drunk far too heavily before giving a drunken and profanity-laced speech at a booster club event

Multiple reports said that Sarkisian's assistants believed he was drunk during a game against Arizona State.

Hours before Sarkisian's firing, the Los Angeles Times reported that Sarkisian had been involved in numerous alcohol-related incidents while at the University of Washington

Close as the whorns could get to Saban I suppose. Meanwhile, Chad and Herman could end up interviewing/competing for the same jobs in the near future. Who has the better free ride these days?

Totally agree on Fickell. Young up and comer that seems to be pretty well grounded.

No doubt Herman has had the better career by far. He won a national championship as OC at Ohio State, won a NY6 Bowl as HC at Houston, had some success at Texas (winning a NY6 bowl there too!) which is a premiere national program. Whereas Chad left Clemson before they won a national championship and the program went on to win a few national championships without him, was HC at SMU where he had a mediocre 7-5 season built on the weakest schedule SMU has had since the DP, and then flamed out as HC at Arkansas and latched on as OC at Auburn only to have that job end because the HC was fired. Chad really needs to head to New Orleans and find a healer as someone might have put a spell on him lol!

Would not be surprised to see Chad and Chandler end up as a package deal with some school in the SunBelt, CUSA or even in the Southland at the FCS level

The fact Texas hired an assistant coach shows how minor league they are now.

Chad got to be head coach of two programs and failed at the P-5 level. He is a credible OC and should stick with that. There are lots of schools with hurting offenses in the Country. I'm not sure he can get the big bucks, but he'll find something somewhere.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

The buyout for Herman and his assistants is around $28 M. Sirkasian gets $34 M over 6 years. Meanwhile the UT athletic department is poor mouthing. Cuts about 70 positions (10 are furloughed) and cut over 200 salaries. Morale can't bee too good over in Bellmont Hall.
