Re: 2022 transfersQuestion:
Do we still have room to add any more players? If so, how many? And is there a date when no more transfers can move? Thank you. G Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
Re: 2022 transfersWith the 25 per year rule on hold for this year and next, a team is limited to 85 scholarship players - not sure how many we have on scholarship counting the kids we signed this year and the transfers who show up - some walkons were given 1 year scholarship last year - I don’t don’t know if they were renewed - we may have some scholarship players who decide not to play football at SMU but want to remain at SMU on scholarship - those scholarship players don’t count on the 85 scholarship rule since we have a new head football coach nor do those scholarship players who for medical reasons are unable to participate on a permanent basis
Re: 2022 transfersAdd RB Velton Gardner
Re: 2022 transferssay 6'3" 330 pond DT would fit about now. Oh, need to run 4.9 40 and do cartwheels.
Man this portal thing is really helping and the way I look at things these days.... SMU was ahead of the curve in the early 80's. Forward thinking progressives!!!! The roster is deeper and better but as I always say "Big Men win football games" Peace G Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
Re: 2022 transfersAnd fat bottomed girls make the rocking world go around.
Re: 2022 transfers
Bus, witnessing our Pony Express D firsthand, as i’m sure you did, i can tell you i was more impressed with their speed than size.
Re: 2022 transfersCarter and Ball were both HS fullbacks. Yes, fast is good but you got to be big. Hopkins, Washington but we were Not small and fast.
Fat bottom girls... Oh my. Got some new designs ponyboy. Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
Re: 2022 transfersWhen I was at SMU in the early 70's, it was common to see H.S. fullbacks recruited to "grow into" becoming OL or DL. Of course, you could play those positions at 240 lbs in those days and most H.S. athletes played multiple sports. It was also common to recruit H.S. QBs (typically the best athlete on their teams) to play RB, WR or DB. The game has evolved driven by the money television has pumped into sports.
I do like what Lashlee and his staff have done via the portal and I'm anxious to see whether this program will continue to improve vs what it was under Sonny
Re: 2022 transfersLatest transfer recruiting rankings are out: TCU 13, SMU 14, UCF 15.
