Head Collects NCEA Rider Of The Month Honors
WACO, Texas (NCEA/SMU) - SMU's Chalyce Head was named the National Equestrian Association's Reining Rider of the Month, the NCEA announced Wednesday.
Head was undefeated in November and is 4-0 on the season. The junior collected back-to-back Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) honors for her performances against then-No. 8 Baylor and Delaware State.
Against Baylor, Head took down Andie Pratt 69-68.5. She completed SMU's reining sweep against Delaware State with a 74.5-72.5 victory and finished off the fall season with a convincing 76-73.5 victory in the Mustangs win over then-No. 9 UC Davis.
SMU ended the fall as the top-ranked team in the nation. The Mustangs are back in action Saturday, Jan. 28, versus UT Martin at the Dallas Equestrian Center.
