SMU defense

Postby PonyFan » Sat Oct 28, 2000 7:09 pm

The D was great. Ruben Moodley made two great interceptions, and Jarrian James and Tommy Dorsey had great interceptions too.

What was James thinking when he pitched the ball backward to Kevin Garrett? I think Cavan almost passed out when he did that....

It was a very risky play, but it sure made for a great highlight.

Highlight? Someone showed highlights of our game? Surely not ESPN, was it?

Before we get all gushy about the defense, it did allow 300 yds passing and that ridiculous TD (see "not wrapping up" and "diving at ankles.") This team is still very poor when it comes to fundamentals.

Does this team run drills on diving at ankles? It makes my skin crawl watching our players do things that sent my HS coaches in to fits. Should I care if our coaches do not?

FWMustang just has a thing with the current coaches. Evidently, judging by the number of times he references his high school coach, they should be the ones working at SMU.

300 yards isn't bad when you give up 19 on the ground. Remember when we had 450 something against UTEP? It's insignificant when you win the game. I thought the defense played with a lot of energy and success.

So let's all get 'gushy' about the WIN!
