Great job, PonyFanMan. I know that it took quite a bit of effort and time to get that list to us.
It is always interesting to me how the recruiting process evolves. Many of the schools that these kids wind up going to are not even on their lists yet. It is still very early. As the season plays out, the top 100 list will change as pretenders are revealed (kids whose coaches have padded their size/speed) and ones who will emerge from nowhere from remote parts of the state with a great senior season.
SMU needs to really focus now on those Metroplex kids. There were a lot of them! Winning in a new stadium will go a long way to getting some of them to SMU.

You are exactly right. The early top 100 lists are based mainly on the coaches comments as well as their stats. Sometimes coaches are very honest, other times they pad the stats. The better lists evolve during the season next year.
Even after watching a kid play and talking with everyone he knows about him, you still dont know what kind of player he is going to be in college. That is why there are a lot of kids that were pretty good in high school, and then became great players. I agree with you, we need to concentrate on the metroplex. There are some schools in Dallas that turn out great kids every year such as Dallas Carter, Lake Highlands, Plano, etc...This is where we need to get most of our recruits. Welcome, GrayPony

By the way, I am so excited about your new board. In regard to recruiting, I think that the new coaches will be go-getters in recruiting. I can see where Ringo and Giles would really be effective. RWilliams is already a good recruiter. I think that I read somewhere that they were really going after the great kids in the Metroplex and not back down to anyone. If we can win some games and get seats filled with loud fans, we will be way ahead of last year.

No. 94, Mark Pierce. Look for him to do big things this year. He was a force this past year, I actually graduated from Weatherford so I saw him play a couple of games. I never saw the kid go down on the first hit, and most of the time he would drag several defenders with him for 5 yards. He was one of the top rushers for the area last year and should be again. Good size kid, 6'1" or taller, about 215-220, with great speed. Once he breaks into the secondary he is gone. Anyway, just keep an eye on him next year.

DT from Dallas Jesuit -- Thomas Derricks -- is a monster. Short (6-0 or 6-1) but thick (280) and VERY strong and quick. Would be a great fit, but we may have to fight off some major programs to get him.

Dallas Hillcrest has a few talented kids -- QB Ryan Gilbert is a phenomenal overall athlete. They have two linemen (don't know their names) who are enormous -- 6-5 and 6-4, both at about 340. Don't know if they can play, but the size is there. They also have a WR/DB named Lakeldrick Bridges who is frighteningly fast -- but I think he has one more year to go.

Nice running back at W.T. White (Marcus McElroy). A little thin (probably 5-10, 175) but very quick and elusive. Not sure if he has breakaway speed.

St. Mark's sent a kid (DE/TE Kalen Thornton) to UTexas this year -- his younger brother, Kyle, is finishing ninth grade, and he's already bigger and quicker than Kalen. Get on this kid.

Can our Jacksonville contingent (McCown, Aldridge, BJWilliams) get the two offensive linemen (Hightower and Holman from Jacksonville?

Norgren, the QB from Bishop Lynch, is huge, and has a VERY strong arm. Bigger and stronger than Josh McCown. Go get him!
