From Thursday's DMN:
Duncanville corner says SMU is for him
Duncanville cornerback Rolando Humphrey didn't really want to leave home.
So when he sat down this week and thought about his college choices, he decided staying near home was his best option.
Humphrey, No. 32 on The News' area top 100 and No. 78 on the state top 100, talked with the SMU coaching staff this week and wanted to commit even before his official visit this weekend.
Oral commitments are not binding. The first day a football player can sign a national letter of intent is Feb. 6.
Humphrey (5-8, 160) chose SMU over offers from Tulsa and Iowa State. He is the second player who appears on both the area and state list that has committed to SMU. Carter's Anthony Barnett is the other.
Humphrey is the brother of St. Louis Rams cornerback Jarametrius Butler. If the Rams make it to the Super Bowl, Humphrey said he will be in attendance.

Houston St. Pius X linebacker Jamar Bey orally committed to SMU. Bey originally committed to Louisiana Tech, but changed his mind after visiting SMU this past weekend.
