Congrats to the Rice Owls for getting to the College Baseball World Series by defeating crosstown rivals, the University of Houston Cougars. Too bad SMU doesn't have a baseball team anymore.

Well...I was just trying to show a little sportsmanship for another WAC school since my Mustangs no longer have a baseball team. Something that I still consider a travesty. At least the WAC is represented in the College Baseball World Series.

And, to be honest, I frankly could care less about Houston schools (UH, Rice, TSU, etc.) except that this is where I now live and I thought some of my fellow Mustangs in the Metroplex might want to be kept up-to-date on what's happening down here.

I would ask PX or someone smart if we receive (via the WAC) any monies from Rice making it to the College World Series.

I've said it before, but I think baseball would do really well at SMU. Look at all of the talent around DFW.

I think if Rice can do it, anybody can.

We just need somebody to "Pony" up the money needed for an on campus stadium, and the necessary money for the Title IX issue.

Well once again, congrats to the Owls! Way to beat Texas! If they win the whole series, it'll be their first national championship EVER in any sport. So go owls! GOOD LUCK!

If the Owls win the national title,in baseball wouldn't that be good evidence against the BCS? If a small school without the big bucks can compete and win a national title in a sport that is not controlled by the money of the BCS then wouldn't that imply that the BCS is decreasing competition and harming other schools chances to compete on the same level? Just a thought and I may not have phrased it very well.

Actually its an argument that the BCS actually doesn't harm competition since a little tiny school like Rice can compete with the big bad BCS schools. I love it that two private schools Rice and Stanford are playing for the National Championship.

Yeah, but they are competeing in sports that the BCS has no control over, ones that are governed by the NCAA and have a legit championship, whereas in football they will never even get the opportunity because the BCS will not allow them the same access to the championship in football that the NCAA does in baseball.
