Mrs. PAMR and I frequent Mariano's regularly since we live down the street. We go there for pretty much the reasons you listed.

Can you buy that bean dip in Dallas? If so, where? I've not heard of it before. TIA[/quote]

I don't believe it's available at stores. It's served only at the Gloria's restaurants around town, which are Salvadoran/Tex-Mex restaurants. By the way, it is very tasty. Yum!

I actually remember the days when Poncho's was in Hillside Village.

"Not Associated with Pancho's on McKinney"... do you remember that?

I don't, to be honest. May have been a little before my time.

Mexican food restaurants

Postby Pony ^ » Mon Feb 17, 2014 1:21 pm

What's everyone's favorite? I judge a Mexican restaurant based on the chips and salsa. My spots are Mia's, Micocina, O'Jedas, Avila's, Herrera's. Sometimes Manny's and Matitos.

Mia's brisket tacos are the best in town.

I also judge based on chips and salsa. Guacamole is also key

Manny's and Ojeda's are my pet peeves - one step above El Fenix for twice the cost.

Best mex in the metroplex is La Familia in fort worth. Nothing compares on this side.

It makes me angry every weekend that there isn't one in Dallas.

Forgot about that one... Out of sight, out of mind. Foch St. in Ft. Worth. It is worth the drive - we just don't make it as often as we'd like. I tend to head south on University to Dutch's when I drive that far west.
