First-team JC All-America Last Year Statistics
2016 stats (10 games) Tyeson Neals is, above all else, an effective pass rusher (he had 12 sacks in 2016, along with 9 tackles for loss in NEO’s 3-4 defense). At SMU, where he will have three seasons of eligibility, he is expected to play the “Leo†defensive end spot that plays closer to the boundary. He had minor shoulder surgery after the 2016 season on his labrum, but fully expects to return to 100 percent effectiveness. Interviews Tyeson Neals on why he chose SMU:
Coach Loepp and Coach Wyatt contacted me first, and I really liked them both right away. I got the sense right away that you can trust them. Some coaches sound like they’re “selling†you something, but you can tell these guys want you. They’re honest.
