SMU controlled the pace of play for the majority of the first half and went into the break up 1-0.

Coming out of the half, Claire Jones scored her first goal as a Mustang on a feed from Nieves in the 60th minute. Jones got free inside the box and sent a rocket into the upper left corner.

Nieves recorded her second multi-assist game of the season, bringing her team-high total up to five.

HCU generated a few looks at net, but SMU goalkeeper Haven Empey-Taylor finished the night with two saves on three shots faced and earned her second career win.

In the final minute of the game, Liz Eddy netted her first goal of the season after scrambling through four HCU defenders in a scrum in front of the goal to extend SMU's lead to 3-0.

Eddy led the Mustangs in total shots with 12 as she scored her fifth career goal as a Mustang.
