Re: Getting a Gary Patterson for SMU

Agree with West Coast Johnny. If there is one person that can navigate us through this mess, and rebuild the program, the right way and give SMU football a brand. It's Franchione. A new offense, capitalizing on what Texas HS are doing best right now, and what college defenses can't seem to stop ...

Re: Getting a Gary Patterson for SMU

We need Fran for 3-4 years to come in rebuild the program, run his hybrid offense that we can recruit to and be successful against other teams as it's difficult to prepare for, he'll retire after 7years and hand it off to the young position coach or OC that will help build it. He knows Dallas, he is ...

Re: SMU "Intrigued" by Mack Brown

Not a [deleted], I respect him as a coach and what he's done everywhere he has been. He would put SMU back to where we belong and restore the program, and then, when it's time give it off to the hot young inexperienced entitled spavital type, who threatened to quit if he didn't get named OC are ...

Re: SMU "Intrigued" by Mack Brown

Are you really trying to hype that coward Dennis Franchione that, once he figured out he couldn't cut it at the easiest job in the SEC, ran to the weaker Big XII and got fired a couple years later?[/quote]

Are you really that stupid to make that comment? Couldn't cut it? He went 7-5 and won a bowl ...

Re: SMU "Intrigued" by Mack Brown

Say you're right, what will that even prove? It certainly doesn't prove that we shouldn't hire an up and comer because I can list a bunch of those that have succeeded if you want to delve into that. BTW your list didn't have any retreads on it, several of those guys didn't have any head coaching ...

Re: SMU "Intrigued" by Mack Brown

While I understand the Franchione argument-he was the guy I wanted at 55 instead of June-I may have to come up with my list of greatest Coaching hires in Texas and 5 adjoining states over last 50 years. Almost universally the best hires have been guys with little or no Division 1A experience. If ...

Re: SMU "Intrigued" by Mack Brown

Trend, You are an idiot. Let's look at last years coaching hires. All but 4 were head coaches previously, and of the 4, they were all coordinators for a very long time. What trend would you be referring to? P.J. Fleck and Kliff Kingsbury? That seems to be working out well. Tech just fired their ...

Re: SMU "Intrigued" by Mack Brown

I'm still very curious as to what true recruiting battles Brown won at Texas. Again, I'm not talking about kids that would have signed with Texas if you or I were the coach... who did he beat out USC, Alabama, Oregon, Oklahoma, etc for that wasn't pretty much a Texas lean from birth?

A great ...
