Re: Kliavkoff has presented media rights deal to Pac-12
I'm kind of surprised that CBS and NBC aren't more prominent in the mix. CBS will have the B1G in 2024. NBC has Big Ten and ND as well. Unless you want late night MWC games on your networks, there is room for the PAC. There are also as we know in the AAC, Friday night opportunities as well. Drunken ...

Re: Kliavkoff has presented media rights deal to Pac-12
My prediction:
All who can leave PAC12 for greener pastures, do so now.
SMU joins what left of the PAC12 on a weaker media deal. Better than AAC, but what's left will hardly resemble a P5 anymore.
The AAC won't get more money but they might get more viewers than the PAC on Apple.

Re: Realignment Update
If the AAC hadnΓÇÖt backfilled 2 years ago, weΓÇÖd have maybe been in a position to merge with the PAC9. True Memphis USF and ECU wonΓÇÖt curl the toes of University presidents, but SMU, Temple, Navy and Tulane will. Perhaps those 4 AAC schools plus AF would be good additions to the PAC 12. Navy ...

Re: Realignment Update
If Colorado bails and they are the only defection, I don't see any pressure on the PAC to expand beyond 9 teams. They would have a balanced conference schedule with 4 home/4 road games and while Colorado now has some intrigue with Deion at the helm, the Buffs have been a doormat for years and has ...

Re: Realignment Update
Man itΓÇÖs hard for me to see this as anything but bad news. CU leaving may not mean much but now that one is out the door how much harder will it be to keep ASU and/or Arizona.
AZ is probably gone.
Question is if ASU, Utah, Oregon, or UW follow.
Either way the PAC has a playoff revenue war ...

Re: Realignment Update
With CU gone it's a lock that the PAC moves on SDSU.
If another goes I think SMU Is 100% in.

Re: Realignment Update
That remains to be seen. I listened to a media "expert" yesterday on a podcast. He said that Apple has all the money in the world and that they want to spend on sports programming including the PAC. Problem is, according to the man, Apple wants to own the whole thing whereas the oldsters who run ...

Re: Realignment Update
Unless ESPN can find a savior within Disney or from highly capitalized 3rd parties look for them to renegotiate their Big 12 contract.
Depends on if they have any real actionable option to do so in the contract. I'd view it as highly unlikely since they JUST finalized it.
When a party to a ...

Re: Realignment Update
Today, Greg Swaim (who seems rather biased against the P12) confirms (on the platform formerly known as Twitter) that the Pac12 has been offered a deal by the CW for a Tuesday and Wednesday evening broadcast game each week.
The upside to that obviously is that anyone with a set of rabbit ears or ...

Re: Realignment Update
ACC just did a deal with The CW. ESPN is broke. Pac12's only hope is that LIV or Apple somehow magically saves them Steve Jobs 1997 style.

"The Pac-12 expects to release details of its highly anticipated media rights deal in the "near future," a league source with knowledge of the conversations told ESPN on Tuesday.
The deal will not be announced at Pac-12 football media day on Friday in Las Vegas, said the source."

Re: Realignment Update
Boise, Colorado State, UNLV and Fresno will only be considered for the PAC if they decide to make the jump to 14 teams. It would make a lot of sense to have a presence in Las Vegas, but UNLV is not a highly selective school and I don't get the impression that Stanford, Cal or Washington in ...

Re: Canzano says the PAC 10 GOR is complete
No one claimed it was a bombshell. It was soberly and accurately reported as exactly what it is.
I realize that youΓÇÖre sane and reasonable for a Big XII-aligned person, but itΓÇÖs beyond rich for anyone on that side of the fence to complain about anyone blowing nothingburgers into PR ...
