Re:

you left Tulsa off the schedule...and anyone who looks at that schedule and assumes we will improve on last year's record is definitely an optimist. We could have an improved team on the field, and I think we will, and still do well to find 3 wins.

Oops - you're right: I forgot Tulsa. But on ...

An extremely early prediction of the 2005 season.

Looking at the schedule, one game (ATM) looks unwinnable and another (UAB) appears to be very tough. Fortunately, both of those games are on the road. So that leaves nine other games in which we should be very competitive and six of those games are at home. So what will happen? These are the ...

The white helmets prominently featured the Mustang logo, which is the best logo in college football.

The navy blue helmets are okay, but you can't see the maroon/burgundy Mustang. It's all too dark and there's not enough contrast.

I've bought 4 season-tickets for football the last 5 years. I was also a member of the Mustang Club back when I was married.

Now I'm divorced and I'm barely surviving (child-support payments suck - especially since the kids are with me more than my ex-wife!).

I'll try to keep the season ...

Re:

the half time reception gives you a place to go to escape the tarted up pre-pubescent girls with hot pants and bare midriffs shimmying and pelvic thrusting through half time. Can any parent of an 11 year old explain why they allow this to happen to their daughters?

It's the Britney Spears ...

20,000 for teams like Tulane, Rice, & UTEP would be very good. Then, if we can get 30,000 for teams like Baylor, TCU, & Texas Tech, we'll be in good shape.

Averaging 23,000-25,000 isn't in the top half of 1-A, but it will easily guarantee that the program will survive.

Re:

I really think a competitive SMU football program draws 20,000 consistently and that can look like a pretty decent crowd at Ford.

I think a competitive SMU team (consistently competing for the C-USA West title) will draw an average of 25,000. I think we're at 16,000 or 17,000 right now, and the ...

Re:

1). Ford: Nice place, no doubt...new, clean,,,but, REAL empty, and compared to most, if not ALL of the other colleges referenced here, Ford is small, not a true D-1 facility. But, for SMU in the C-USA, with our 7500 - 15,000 fans, Ford is GREAT!!

I disagree about the 7,500 - 15,000 fans. I ...

Nothing new, but three good things about the FB program:

1) Ford Stadium. Five years old, and still beautiful. I've been to Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, North Texas, TCU, Army, Illinois, Tulane, Houston, LSU, Boston College, UCF, and UConn (before their new stadium opened in 2003). I don't think any of them compares to Ford Stadium. It is clean, comfortable ...

Someone posted here a few weeks ago that Tulane will announce a new, on-campus stadium in 2005. No source was identified and no link was given, but I hope it's true.

UConn has been recruiting at about the #70-#90 level (according to the experts) the last few years. This year, the Huskies had a 7-4 record and a blowout win over Toledo in the Motor City Bowl.

If SMU is really at #70 (or so), that is good news. That would be very competitive in the C-USA West.

If you're team is ranked about #102 (SMU) and you bring in the #71 recruiting class, that's an upgrade.

If you're ranked #35 and you bring in the #71 recruiting class, that's disappointing.
