Doesn't the UMC have schools in each of its jurisdictions? SMU is the South Central jurisdiction of the UMC. Duke in the SE. Boston University in the NE. Purdue in the Midwest. USC and Vanderbilt were founded by the Methodist Church, but are now independent, I believe.

Last season, one of the national college football writers referred to UH's offensive live as "The Dead Poets Society" because of the names - SirVincent Rogers, Sterling Doty, David Douglas, Byron Alfred etc.

Back in the early 70's SMU had a really good team that finished second in the SWC. Back then only conference champs played in the NCAA tournament (I don't recall how independents were handled.)
