I'm expecting that Rex Walters will not be coming and will be promoted at FAU - was his name mentioned - or conspicuously omitted - in connection with assistants?

You can never ignore your own back yard, but Doherty isn't going to be overly dependent upon it. Any H.S. coaches who want to "blow him off" may be soon hoping he doesn't blow them off.

Phil Bennett is 11-35 in his first and possibly last HC job. MD was successful at Notre Dame and, although results were mixed at UNC, he brings national name recognition and a National Coach of the Year award with him. (Orsini's last two hires have been George O'Leary and Matt Doherty - he's not ...

"I would like nothing more than to see almost all-JC recruiting classes for the next 2 years."

Are you kidding me? Yuk. Maybe one or two to bridge the gap, but Doherty has worked at places like UNC and ND - he can recruit at a place with academic credibility without turning it (us) into one of ...

He was rock solid, if unspectacular - perfect complementary player to that group - basically a 3 - Perkins and Worthy took care of the low post.

Highly doubt Walters would pass up the head gig @ FAU - they are, by the way, at least moving up from Atlantic Sun to Sunbelt.

"If Orsini is his own man, which I hope he is, he'll do a big splash hire (a la O'Leary), in this case Doherty; if not, Turner will force feed his buddy Evans down Orsini's throat. (Evans may be ok, but let's face ...

O'Leary had baggage. Price had baggage. To say Doherty has "baggage" from UNC is absurd. His resume sparkles except for one 8-20 season and some players with hurt feelings for getting yelled at. That's not "baggage"; he didn't do anything morally or ethically questionable. I'll take the body of work ...

Screw DISD. Let them get on board or get out of the way. If we're so dependent on them, shame on us. No way Doherty is worried about that nor would he allow himself to be disproportionately dependent on the local yokels.

That's right. No egg on our face if he stays at FAU - doesn't mean we're "beneath" FAU; means he is being patient for an even better offerand that we haven't convinced him we're his best move right now.

Class of '94? Too young to remember Linda Ronstadt and the Stone Ponies, I guess.

Haith has done a good job at UM the last two years; Clark was run out of town on a rail and is reviled in Miami.
