Just knowing players from one certain club are talking to SMU again will do wonders for the future of the program.
Indeed. And not just the Dallas clubs but it looks like So Cal clubs are once again showing interest seeing that we have a Slammers commit for 2014. Soccer is such a small community ...

W. Soccer -2013 Recruits
It's that time again and, according to topdrawersoccer, looks like Petrucelli has a fine group coming in; all listed as 4 stars. Nicely done. I'm sure he's got a few more who aren't currently listed.

Go Ponies!
Indeed.
Petrucelli: "Something special is brewing here. Don't miss it."
I couldn't agree more. NSCAA is still ignoring this team but I hope to see us break in there - at least regionally - in the coming weeks.

Re: W-Soccer: SMU at TCU
Excellent result. Scovill is playing loose and the whole offense has been invigorated and empowered. I honestly think that we will look back on that little video session as being the start of a great season. The girls needed to know what would happen when they screw up - that the coach would not ...

Thanks for sharing the link. I found these few sentences to be such a snapshot of what is happening in our women's program.

Re: W-Soccer: SMU vs. Oral Roberts
While I wasn't able to attend, Gametracker is my friend and Ponies prevail, 2-1.
I love that Coach played everyone at least a few minutes presumably to try different formations and combos. That hasn't happened in a very long time. We out shot them by twenty something and had 11 corners to 1 for ...

Re: W-Soccer: Missouri Exhibition
So, they have most of their team back and a stable coaching regime. They were 63 in last season's RPI (we were 76) so it was a legitimate test for us.
Agree. Blitz is a quirky guy but he consistently fields a team of big, strong players. I especially like the result as we look forward to tougher ...

Re: W-Soccer: Missouri Exhibition
So THAT's what this team looks like with a coach..
Bingo.
That was impressive. I don't know the team like some of you do, so I couldn't tell you who looked most impressive, but we looked much better than last year, especially in the offensive end. Ponies looked like a completely new team, and I ...

Well, guess we don't have to worry about Steve O screwing up the coaching search. And we can stop holding our collective breath, too, until the new AD is in place. Always something...

Re: W Soccer - Coaching Speculation
It would also be a shame to miss out on the summer recruiting opportunities at the many big tournaments and showcases. In terms of turning this thing around and being competitive in the BE, that would be a huge step backward.

Plus, as August so eloquently pointed out ...

I would really hate to see them wait on this hire. In an ideal world, the team needs to get some direction from the new coach including a workout plan for the summer and assistants need to be in place. Camps usually run ...

Camp info is up - Brent Erwin's SMU Girls Soccer Academy - but he's still listed as the Women's HC so either it's old info or SO is letting him keep camp for another summer. http://www.smusoccercamp.com/index.php/register

I have heard rumors that it will be Chris Petrucelli, formerly of UT
His contract was not renewed after several years of underperforming teams, while ND continued to do well after he left. We really need someone who knows how to get the most from their players now, not some nebulous time in the ...

Stewart lobbied hard for the job after JC left but didn't get much traction. In hindsight I suspect SO had already made up his mind to move Brent in but don't know for certain.smusic 00 wrote:Former SMU assistant Stewart Brown from Highland Park. State Champ...
