Re: Your Thoughts on True Brvnd SMU Hat
Not impressed. Will continue to wear one of my roughly 20 other caps.

Re: SMU names Ozzie Quevedo women's swimming/diving head coa
Real challenge if SMU becomes a PAC 12 member. Stanford, California and Arizona are top 20 and AZ State knocking on the door.

Live and learn. I was not aware of the listing protocol.

Re: SMU names Ozzie Quevedo women's swimming/diving head coa
I really appreciated the coaching ability and dedication of Coach Steve Collins. 37 years is total dedication. My only difficulty with him was his inability to recruit. He seldom got any top US talent and relied on his foreign connections for a handful of kids over the past 20 years who represented ...

Re: Men's swimming and diving announces 2023-24 additions
Appears that for the 1st time Coach R sought out foreign swimmers which unfortunately are necessary for a top tier program. Without times to judge these recruits, it is tough to really assess the strength of this class. From the stand point of filling voids in strokes needed, he shored up weaknesses ...

Re: Bryson at T3 through 12 at PGA, but
I started watching the PGA on the last day when Koepka was on the 4th hole. Seemed like the CBS announcers were accommodating toward him and forced to tolerate and follow him because he was in the lead. Seemed like network really did not want to give time to the LIV guys. They were laudatory for ...

Re: Women's swimming and diving announces 8 newcomers
The transfer from Northwestern is really good - better than anyone on our current team. The divers are good.
The Oklahoma backstroker is pretty good, with hopefully a lot of upside.
The others may have the ability to get a lot better, but this group is not what SMU needs to be making an impact at ...

Re: MenΓÇÖs Swimming And Diving Announces 2021-22 Additions
Although i have not taken the time to look up individual times, Coach Rhodenbaugh advised me that every member of this class had posted times that would have placed them in a championship/final heat of the AAC Conference championships this spring. As Pony Swim pointed out, the pandemic had a ...

Re: Women's swimming and diving announces 8 newcomers
Aside from the 2 diving transfers this is fairly pathetic recruiting effort both in numbers and quality; however, the program has a history of foreign kids who arrive for the second semester.

Re: Greatest SMU Wide Receiver
No question at all--Jerry Levias. SMU All-American, none of these other players were All-American. If he isn't listed as our all time best receiver then he is at least our all time best special teams player. He had speed, in the days of long grass and outdoor stadiums. He was quick and he was ...

He still holds the national HS record for the 12 pound shot @ 81' 3" set in 1979. I am not sure anyone has even gotten close to this record.

Re: Who was the greatest Swimmer in SMU history
Our best swimmer is a great topic; however, we may never know the real answer. We had some truly great South African swimmers in the late 50s, 60s and 70s who could not compete at the world level due to apartheid. They could only compete at the British Empire Games if they paid their own way as ...

As and addendum; his parents are outstanding and it is reflected in their boys.

Re: Greatest Kicker in SMU history
From my failing memory I recall Doak Walker holding the Cotton Bowl record punt at 86 yards and Kyle Rote at 82 yards. Danny Thomas had an 89 yard kick in the Cotton Bowl in 1963 a year when he led the NCAA with a 47.6 yard average with more than 50 punts. Shortly after Thomas departed Denis Partee ...
