Re: Phil Bennett: No coach cover up

Not to rain on your righteous indignation but who cares? I'll take BU's administration over smoos any day. It righted the ship and is moving on. BU will be just fine while smoo continues with its 30+ year pity party.

Got to admit, I disagree.

As much I am not happy that the SMU administration ...

That is a bit like being the smartest kid on the short bus.

(C'mon folks, before you complain about my insensitivity, it's a joke, and a relatively common expression, no matter how offensive)

Re: Week One lines: North Texas -1┬╜ vs. SMU

I was impressed with what he was able to accomplish but at the same time I think he bailed because he realized this could be a step back year that could impact his career trajectory.

He left for the freaking SEC West. Who else thinks he should have waited? What was he going to get? Alabama ...

Re: Make Our Uniforms Great Again.

When are people going to figure out that this is a recruiting issue?

Yep, the 80's SMU uniforms were incredibly classy. They looked great. All time great. Not denying any of that. "Classy" doesn't sell in the 2010's. "Flashy" does. Black. Chrome. What looks good on TV?

Hint: red on blue and blue ...

Re: Why is no one talking about the re-seating at Moody?

Is the reseat meeting still on tonight?

No.

An email explaining that it was cancelled was sent on March 5.

Text follows:

Dear MenΓÇÖs Basketball Season Ticket Holders,

Thank you for your ongoing support of our MenΓÇÖs Basketball Program. With the conclusion of regular season play, we look ...

I have to admit, the sheer number of calls has been overwhelming. While I have not blocked it (yet), I certainly don't pick up when I see (214) 768-XXXX.

Re: Injury watch

We can't hold a practice for lack of players.

We just lost by 25 at home.

We're tied for 7th in the conference.

And you guys are really talking about an NCAA tournament bid? Really?

Re: Freshman Development Issues

Would it be fair to say that there is simply a difference in talent evaluation strategy?

Jank (and the player ratings) favor players with a high ceiling, and place a lower importance on whether they are ready on day 1. Each player is a bit of a gamble, but when you hit, you'll hit big.

Beard ...

Re: Freshman Development Issues

Thanks. You're right. "Development" was the wrong word. Development is longer term, and we have seen growth in our players that have stayed with the program.

Evaluation, or "college-ready" may have been a better term.

Ethan is the product of losing a TON of weight, then getting very sick w flu, and coming back weak. Part of his process was to shed baby fat, then build it back up. Right now, he's a corpse and needs this thing to end, so we can build muscle and training table the kid. His skill set is immense ...

Not really my intention, as I feel like this problem really seemed to exist under Larry, as well.

I assume you were kidding, and I think they are both pretty exceptional coaches, and I think both schools are lucky to have them.

Re: Freshman Development Issues

I hear what you are saying. Tech has a lot of seniors.

But there are only 2 seniors on their whole roster (along with 2 freshmen) who average over 20 MPG.

I'm not counting Smith, who has been gone for 10 games, and is gone the rest of the year.

There's only 2 more (both of whom are transfers) who ...

Freshman Development Issues

I admit that there are many, many on this board who know much more about basketball than I do. I don't watch a terrific mount of basketball outside of SMU and Texas Tech (where my wife went). So my sample size is limited.

But I have an honest question: Is SMU's development of incoming freshmen sub ...

Will is only shooting a touch below what Ben Emelegou did his first year at SMU.

Ben turned out alright.

I was very encouraged by what I saw from Will yesterday.
