There must be something more to the story. It just seems to me that Pres. Turner would do anything he could to ensure a legacy of improving SMU both academically (Caruth/Simmons) and athletically (JJ/WINNING SEASONS/Hawai'i Bowl).

This looks pretty viable. All sources are indicating that aTm has turned down the Pac-10 and may have enough votes to go to the SEC.

Hopefully this scenario plays out:

aTm -> SEC (plus teams from ACC/Big East)
Utah -> Pac-11 (now Pac-12)
Texas & Co -> Pac-12 (now Pac-16)
MWC -> Big XII (now Big 14 ...

Time to hope that A&M stays in Big XII with Baylor, Iowa St., Mizzou, Kansas, KSU and that Utah joins Pac-16. The Big XII would remain AQ. This would start a MWC grab of Big XII or C-USA West teams and the Big XII would have to take teams from either MWC or C-USA West. Lots of opportunities for us.

word is the demo that's being released on Monday features matchups of teams with the different offenses (single back, spread, option, etc..). I believe there are 8 matchups being used and I assume SMU has to be in one of them. That'd be sweet.

So far the one's announced are Miami @ Ohio St ...

I've heard rumors that Utah could be chosen over A&M if the Big XII South (minus Baylor) go to the Pac-10 or if Texas & Nebraska go to the Big Ten, so this could be a proactive move.

From all accounts Steve was supposed to join June and company in Austin for the coaches tour, but stayed in Dallas to attend to "hot issues." I'm sure we're doing all we can.
