Vindictive sabotage. Orsini should also be indicted for drafting such a poor contract that June could not be fired after ASU without great financial loss. Tiki gave up, took our check and left us with arguably the worst team in college football. Sick and sad.
BUT, on a good note, our team played ...

Talking up the SMU opportunity; Slamming ED
Yes, the commentators during the ATM games said June was an "offensive master." That's just idiotic; especially when you look at the mess June left us.
On the GOOD side, these commentators are talking up the SMU opportunity. Called ED "short-sighted" and part of the reason we received the DP ...

Re: Mike Hashimoto
Cole Beasly, Margus Hunt, Sterling Moore, Zach Line, Emmanuel Sanders, 4 bowl games and more..... Where has Hashimoto been the last 5 years? Under a rock? SMU's football future is BRIGHT. What has happened in the last 2-3 years has happened to many a team... the coach lost his edge, or in our case ...

Re: Mike Hashimoto
The fact that the P5 conferences "say" that a G5 contender "might" join their exclusive club DOES NOT kill the factual argument that they have created a monopoly on the business that is collegiate athletics. The fact is that THEY DO restrict access and that is a violation of federal law.

Re: Mike Hashimoto
Hashimoto fails to mention (but knows) these salient points:
1) The NCAA, P5 conferences and their member schools consist of a classic cartel in violation of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act. If the cartel doesn't provide proper "access" to other D1 schools, they leave themselves wide open to have their ...

Re: Anti-Trust Violation by P5 Conferences and NCAA
just my opinion but i think most schools are afraid to sue because they are under the impression (delusion) that they will be invited to join a p5 conference in the future. they don't want to upset the major conferences and risk not being invited to the party.

Anti-Trust Violation by P5 Conferences and NCAA

The ruling in the O'Bannon case does not specifically address the current trend toward anti-trust law violations by the P5 conferences, schools and the NCAA when it comes to the "have not" schools, but it does give an idea of how a federal court might rule if a case was brought.

Excellent article about the strong position SMU finds itself in. This article is dead on correct: We are in a great position looking forward.

Eric Dickerson: Lack of Leadership
Eric Dickerson is frustrated. I understand that. His friend and coach, June Jones, was forced out because he simply wasn't doing a good job. June gave up the week after the great TCU win when poor attendance marred a home game against UCF in 2011. Poor attendance is a problem. But June giving up IS ...

Re: DMN: SMU at crossroads moment with football
We are at a crossroads with football. The next 3-5 years will determine where we land. The next coaching decision will be the most important one in the history of SMU sports. If we commit to a Chad Morris, commit to solid and outstanding recruiting, WIN our conference in football, we would be in a ...

Re: Dickerson's comments now a subject on Around the Horn
SMU will never get a fair deal when it comes to the NCAA. Just look at the basketball selection tournament last year. The big names run the show; we will always have a target on our backs. Fine. We simply have to be squeaky clean with regard to recruiting in all sports. If this puts us at a ...

Re: Dickerson's comments now a subject on Around the Horn
It has now been almost 30 years since the death penalty. The subject itself should be dead and buried. Remember: We did go to 4 mid-level bowl games in 6 years. The wheels have come off only in the last two years. ED should have been a statesman; he chose not to be one. He reaps what he sows.

Re: Dickerson the Whiner
ED has disparaged SMU. He is a grown man. He and CJ should be STATESMAN for everything SMU. There is a statesmanly way to expressing dissatisfaction; ED didn't choose that route. He failed to act with class. We expect CLASS from everything and everyone associated with SMU. Man up ED. Man up CJ. Be ...

Re: Dickerson the Whiner
I am also VERY tired of the ED/CJ whine that "we and the teams of the 80's are not welcome on campus." That is bull. Both were honored last year when they deigned to attend a home game. Both are honored in the Hall of Champions. I shook ED's hand and talked a little about the old days. No, we aren't ...

Dickerson the Whiner
So the great ED blasts SMU. Says we should compete or drop the program. Tells his nephew not to even look at his own alma mater. Slams us left and right today on social media, ESPN, etc. So, tell me Eric, who has been the architect of our recent football woes? Who didn't get off his butt to recruit ...
