if we can do this for basketball.......

Did I miss something? According to your post, we pay the BB coach $600,000 and the football coach $5,000,000! What's wrong with this picture?

Just reading the post about how we hope our young team can mature in the last four games. Watching the Boise State-Hawaii game last night and the announcer said that Boise has the second youngest team in the nation! Apparently there are young players who can play and then there are our young players!

It's really hard to get all foamy-at-the-mouth about a game with San Jose State. I remember when a must win game meant we were playing the Texas Longhorns! Without commenting on what brought us to this rather dismal state of affairs, a win againsr SJSU will mean only one thing--a one-ten season ...

I went to a San Jose-SMU game a few years ago and, as I remember, they sold beer but limited you to two. The way they kept trsck was by a hospital type wrist band on which they marked your purchase. My reaction was, "If you're gonna limit me to two, why bother!"

secondary

Everyone talks about the lack of offensive production, but looking at the stats I see where the Texas Tech QB passed for over 500 yds, OSU wide receiver caught a record 7 TD's and the Boise State QB passed for over 500 yds. Does any body have any ideas about what has caused the collapse of our ...

Let's be fair

O. k., I am the first to deride any and all pollyannas who claim to see a light at the end of the tunnel when it's probably an oncoming train. But let's be fair, Three losses by a total of eight points and all three games should now be in the win column. Once we learn how to keep beating ourselves ...

coaching

I wonder if it has dawned on anyone that coaching may be the problem. Given that Bennett is a great recruiter, that does not make him a great coach. It's not all his fault. We cannot afford to pay the big bucks to get a top notch coach, such as Tedford of California or Shula of Alabama. So we are ...

Re: Will we ever have the success that TCU...

SMU will start having the same success as TCU when we start admitting academic non-qualifiers and students who score less than their age on the SAT. I'm proud of the fact that we haven't forgotten that college football players are STUDENT-Athletes and our first priority is to make sure that they get ...

Re: our ban

The real facts were even more egregious. On one occasion, when the "paychecks" to the players were late, several players broke into the athletic office, jimmied open a desk, and took the payments. Also, there was a lot of resentment between those players who were on the payroll and those who were ...

Re: BENNETT IS THE GREATEST

O.K. you guys, just to keep your feet on the ground, don't forget that Bennett predicted that we would win the WAC last year. Admittedly, he is a great recruiter. As a head coach, he is an unknown quantity.

Correction. When we hired Dave Smith, he was not an assistant coach, he was head coach at OSU.

bowls

The consensus seems to be that we will never be invited to a bowl game unless we win the conference. O. K., how about we simply inaugurate our own bowl, just like SJSU and Hawaii. Then, anytime we manage to win 6 or more games, we just invite ourselves. Ford Stadium is about the same size as Spartan ...

Re: What the F&%$ SMU 7th best class in WAC?

Stallion--I only take issue with one thing in your lenghty and informative post. I do not agree that SMU, Rice and Tulsa can do nothing to change the recruiting rules in the WAC. As I understand it, Air Force and BYU were pretty much responsible for the MWC changing its rules in re: non-qualifiers.
